NOVEMBER 19, 2021

Researchers who were part of the team that recently published a paper entitled "De novo TRIM8 variants impair its protein localization to nuclear bodies and cause developmental delay, epilepsy, and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis” in the American Journal of Human Genetics will be giving a zoom talk to the TRIM8 syndrome patient group on November 19, 2021 at 8 AM EST (US).  

This talk will be approximately 1.25 hours in length. Dr. Amar Majmundar and Dr. Simone Sanna-Cherchi will discuss their research and findings followed by a question and answer period.

Dr. Majmundar is currently an attending pediatric nephrologist at Boston Children's Hospital and an instructor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. His research explores the genetic basis of pediatric kidney diseases with a focus on Mendelian genetic forms of nephrotic syndrome.

Dr. Simone Sanna-Cherchi is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology at Columbia University, New York. His research focuses on the investigation of the genetic causes of human kidney disease.

Dr. Frank Sileo and Ms. Carol Potter are the authors of the recently published book,  "When Your Child Has a Chronic Medical Illness".  This text is a warm and accessible parenting book for children with chronic illnesses.  It offers clear, practical guidance for all aspects of the journey for parents, children and families.

This book is groundbreaking for families that include children who have serious medical conditions.  It covers topics that are rarely addressed and provides essential advice based on the authors' years of professional expertise.

Dr. Frank J. Sileo, PhD, is a New Jersey licensed psychologist, an award-winning author, and national and international speaker. Ms. Carol S. Potter, MFT, is a California licensed marriage and family therapist. In her practice she has worked with individuals, families, and couples, as well as children and adolescents in school settings, and facilitated both bereavement, and anger management groups. She helped develop the strengths-oriented Best Practice Parenting program for the Southern California Counseling Center. Ms. Potter is also an actor. Her roles have included playing Cindy Walsh, one of television’s most beloved mothers, on “Beverly Hills 90210”. Visit Carol Potter online.

On October 21, 2022 at 8:00 AM EST (US) Dr. Sileo and Ms. Potter will be giving a virtual talk about their book to the TRIM8 Patient Group.  This virtual event will be an hour in length and will include an opportunity for discussion and questions.

NEW VIRTUAL EVENT

 JANUARY 25, 2025

We invite TRIM8 patients and their families to join us for  a virtual meet-up on January 25, 2025 from 1:00 - 2:30 PM EST (US).  

The objective of this meet-up is to give TRIM8 families an opportunity to connect, share updates, and discuss issues of interest in a supportive and welcoming environment.
